The Kennel Express™ Pet Carrier from Stylette® is perfect for dog owners on-the-move. It’s airline-
approved, and it’s on wheels. What a wonderful idea!

Our Jack Russell Terrier, Harley, traveled with my husband and me when we drove to Memphis for the American Pet Dog Trainers conference. The Kennel Express made our life on-the-move easy. I’d just put Harley in the crate, shut the door, and pull him down the hotel’s hallway. And it was very handy when there were other things to carry. I bet it’d really be great in an airport.

The crate is easy to assemble, and it’s styled in typical plastic crate fashion. The one I tested is hunter green, but I’ve also seen them in blue. The carrier comes with sturdy turn-lock fasteners that you just pop in and turn. I had no problems assembling and disassembling it quickly. The wheels are removable and can be stored in slots on top of the crate. Take them off when the crate is in the car, though. I neglected to do this the first time, and the thing rolled all over the back part of my sport utility vehicle. (It’s a good thing Harley wasn’t in it at the time!)

There’s a leash pin that’s inserted above the door. Attach your dog’s leash to it and you have a handle that allows you to pull the crate. Personally, I’d prefer  a handle that comes with it – maybe actually built onto the crate. That way, you don’t have to fumble around for a leash. But I do think the leash pin is a clever idea.

The one thing that I don’t like about the Kennel Express is that there’s no carrying handle. I tested the medium size carrier and picking it up was very awkward; it’s too big to get your arms around. The only one that does have a handle is the small size. (And, they very wisely placed it on top of the crate.) Of course this begs the question, if they were only going to put a handle on one of them, why did they choose the easiest size to carry without a handle?

The assembled sizes are: small, 21” x 16” x 18”;   medium, 27” x 20 3/4” x 25”; intermediate, (32” x 22” x 25 3/4”); large (36” x 24 1/2” x 28”); extra-large (40” x 27” x 30”). The crates also come with standard food and water dishes.

The Kennel Express Pet Carriers are available at PETsMART and Petco. Suggested retail prices are: small, $29.99; medium, $35.99; intermediate, $57.99;   large, $67.99; extra large, $89.99. Or contact Stylette, P.O. Box 190, Oakdale, PA 15071, 1-800-752-5650.
