I'm Diane K., the breeder behind Furball Forest Poodles located in Santa Cruz, CA. We strive for sweet, good-natured, and healthy standard poodles. Parents are Embark DNA tested for genetic disease markers. Also, OFA tested for heart, hips, and eyes. OFA CHIC registered. AKC and UKC registered.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    We met a show breeder who needed homes for her dogs after their show careers were over. We took in a few of her wonderful poodles over the years. Then she had a young female that needed TLC, her foster family had ignored her in their yard for 6 months. We took her in and straightened her out. Then the breeder decided she didn't want her back to breed her. I asked if we could, and she said yes.

  • What makes your program special?

    We are a small family run establishment that raises the pups in our home. We treat them like our babies, and they get lots of handling and attention. They grow up in our living room and get used to family life and sounds. When ready, they get to romp in our yard, supervised of course. We only have about 1 litter a year so we can give them our full attention.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies include miniature, moyen, and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include sable, apricot, black, blue, brown, cafe au lait, cream, red, and parti. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Diane

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Diane partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and between $1,700 - $2,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“2 core vaccinations, 2 dewormings, vet check, AKC Limited registration application, and microchipping. Non-refundable but can be applied to another available puppy in the same or upcoming litter.”

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    I’m 72 years old and after grieving the loss of my beloved 13 year old pit bull, Molly for about 8 months I was ready for ready for another dog. This time with puppy of a breed that I had always wanted-a standard poodle. I live on the central coast of California so I started searching online for local breeders. I found a few but none really stood out until I came upon Furball Forest Poodles. The good dog app gave a thorough description and background of Diane, the breeder and the breeding line of her dogs. There were photos of the most recent litter that were convincing me of this opportunity. I chose a sweet looking male puppy and contacted Diane. She supported my choice, but a few days later she reached out to me about my choice. She had gone back over my preferences of characteristics and asked me about my desire for a large dog.I did want a large dog. She said the puppy I chose was rather small and was likely to mature into a small dog. We talked and I changed my choice to a bigger puppy-Chocolate Mousse. He was and still is adorable! I received pictures from Diane as I waited the few weeks for the puppy to be weaned and vet checked. I was falling in love with the photos. Then the day came to go pick up Chocolate Mousse in person and he was incredible. I think I have located my sidekick to spend the rest of my days with Thank You Furball Forest, good dog and especially Diane.

    Diane is fantastic. Very knowledgeable and cares about the pups. Our boy is really intelligent and very loving. Loves playing fetch and other games. Enjoys snuggles and belly scritches at night. Highly recommend Furball Forest
