Meet the breeder

I'm Rita G., the breeder behind Gaus Hof located in Buckingham, IL. Home raised, fully health tested parents, AKC Champions. Healthy, happy parent dogs. Q. & A. with Rita

  • Why did you start breeding?

I used to train German Shepherds and started breeding them in 1999, when we had an accidental litter. It was such a wonderful experience. Later I fell in love with the American Hairless Terrier and decided to show in conformation and do performance like racing, scent work, or trick dog. My goal is to produce healthy puppies that are built to the breed Standard and also have great temperament.
  • What makes your program special?

Consistently improving our breeding program to produce the best all around and stable puppies. AKC breeder of Merit. Show and performance results, consistently clear health test results of breeding stock, publicly listed health testing on OFA website. Health guarantee. Satisfied customers and excellent customer service with a lifetime support for our puppy clients.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have hairless coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blue tan and white, lilac dilute, black tan and white, black and tan, red and white, white and chocolate, and white and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Sending a huge thank you to Rita @ Gaus Hof AHT for our amazing puppy! Thank you for being so easy to work with, patient with all of our questions, and for taking such good care of our boy until we could bring him home. He has had no issues settling in to his new home. Weber’s Sunshine & Whiskey joined our family last weekend. We couldn’t ask for a better puppy. He sleeps through the night, loves to snuggle, play fetch, and sits on command (usually). Whiskey loves to walk in the woods, hunt mushrooms, chase leaves and take car rides. He certainly keeps us on or toes! Thank you Gaushof AHT for being so easy to work with and filling our hearts with so much love . 💕 #AmericanHairlessTerrier #GausHofAHT
