Meet the breeder

I'm Sarah B., the breeder behind RisingStar Australian Shepherds located in Springville, NY. My start in Aussies began in 1996. From my first litter in 1999, I got my first bred by champion. From my next litter, I got my first top 20 specials bitch and future foundation bitch. We now have Best In Show and performance titled dogs all over the world as well as many many happy companions.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My first litter was in 1999. I started by breeding mainly for the conformation show ring with quality structure and temperament. Soon enough I also started competing in performance venues. The Australian Shepherd is a truly versatile breed that I want to showcase through my breeding.

  • What makes your program special?

    I breed for healthy excellent companions that can do well in everything they do. I want dogs that show the versality of the Australian Shepherd with conformation and performance minded dogs as well as be healthy companions at the same time. All of my dogs are fully health tested, exceeding the requirements for health testing in the breed.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Sarah

Sarah has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Sarah partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.

“We match pups with their new homes once temperaments can be seen, health exams are complete, and show evaluations are done. Families choose their pup in person at the time of pick up.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $300 refundable deposit and between $1,900 - $2,900 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price for pet puppies is $2200 and show puppies $3200. All puppies come with contract, first vaccines, dewormings, vet and eye exam, microchip, AKC registration, and lifetime breeder support. Deposit is $300 and is due when female is confirmed pregnant. I have a deposit contract that states exactly what is expected of each party regarding the deposit.”

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Dentition

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Coat/Trait Panel, DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Sarah made the entire process super easy. She was very responsive from the beginning and nothing was too big of an ask with her. She was very accommodating, she arranged a visit with all the pups for me and answered any and all questions I had. It’s obvious she takes good care of her dogs and puppies, and that she wants them to go to the perfect homes.
