Meet the breeder

I'm Jessica S., the breeder behind Westlane Dogs located in Nacogdoches, TX. We produce high-quality Labradors that compete in numerous performance settings, make excellent family pets, and thrive in households with assistance dogs. Temperament is very important; many of our puppies have gone into service dog homes. We Volhard test at 7 weeks for potential service prospects.

Q. & A. with Jessica

  • Why did you start breeding?

Although I've always had Labradors, I only started showing and breeding them in 2008. I love my dogs and truly cherish the friendships I have established throughout the years. Maintaining the line of these amazing dogs while providing companionship to others is such an honor!
  • What makes your program special?

Each dog in our breeding program has undergone OFA testing (hips, elbows, heart, and eyes) and genetic testing. We will always help/take them back when their owners are unable to provide for them. Over the years, several of our puppy families have returned and purchased additional puppies from us. Making friends with our puppy families is a very amazing experience! See website for additional info
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Jessica

Jessica has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Jessica partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“We take care to match each puppy with the appropriate family by using our own questionnaire on our website. When puppies are mature enough for us to assess their temperaments and personalities—roughly seven weeks old—they are matched. After holding back our keeper puppies for our program, we notify our families about the remaining ones.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“When a puppy goes home they get a bag with toys, treats, and a bag of dog food. We include a folder that has a contract, pedigree, a copy of the vet health certificate, a microchip, microchip registration, AKC 30-day pet insurance, etc. The deposit is non-refundable as a puppy has been reserved for you. If you have made a deposit and decide that it is not the right time for a puppy, deposits can be carried over to a future litter.”

Contract & health guarantee

Jessica may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Jessica offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Jessica directly.
