• start from INSIDE the house first, not off leash in the yard
• back away & then let dog make a choice

• if 1-2 redirects aren’t working you are bribing and negotiating
• think about boot camp and nothing in life is free, plus tethering
• brief time outs in the crate are appropriate

• brief time out in the crate (human is calm and unemotional)

00:46:15 Puppy home for 2 weeks is repeatedly peeing and even pooping in crate

• always rule in or out a UTI
• young pups cannot and shouldn’t be expected to give clear indication of a potty need (it’s our job; when in doubt, take them out!)
• potty pans in expen for apartment dwellers (yes!)

• close bathroom doors so there’s no access until you can catch dog in the act and redirect *before* paper is 5 feet out the door and was already fun & self reinforcing.

01:03:00 Pup has started pawing in water bowl

• raised feeder 
• OR take bowl away the moment pup starts to paw (only for 1-2 minutes) & repeat, repeat for learning by cause and effect

01:05:00 Whining in expen vs crates

01:09:00 First time owning a toy breed vs large breed

• training differences?  Not really!
• when to intro grooming tools?

01:17:00 Socialization in safe areas prior to full vaccinations

01:23:00 Pup arriving to Canada in a couple weeks from Houston

• don’t push outside potty trips the first couple days so puppy can acclimate
• have puppy sized dog coats ready and also Intro wearing the coat and playing outside the first few days (briefly)

01:27:00 New pup in expen while at football game

• make socialization the priority of outings (human is focused and fully engaged in puppy interactions with all the stimuli)
• leave crate and expen training a priority for home
• when pup is older and fully crate trained, hanging out in expen or crate by the self will work (after training & maturity)
