I'm Sterling M., the breeder behind Airbender Dogs located in Rockbridge County, VA. I have owned and shown Silken Windhounds for 8 years, and have been waiting until I had the right dogs in my program to start breeding. I prioritize health, temperament, and structure. I hope to produce easy to live with dogs while also maintaining the drive that makes these hounds what they are by proving them on the field.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Although I am fairly new to breeding, I am enthusiastic about ethically sharing my love for Silken Windhounds with the world. I have a passion for excellence and healthy family pets, and I am dedicated to furthering my education so that I can continue to improve my breeding program as well as share my knowledge with others! I look forward to connecting with you!
  • What makes your program special?

    I am passionate about raising well-rounded pups who will excel in any venue with their new families. I focus on temperament, structural soundness, and beauty. My dogs are family members first and foremost. I am passionate about the work I do and truly love my dogs. My commitment is to provide you with a professional and friendly puppy-buying experience. That includes always having responsible practices for breeding, training, and rehoming my puppies. I truly want the very best for my puppies and their families.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are white and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Puppy prices include between $2,800 - $3,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

Breeder-Reported Testing

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
