Meet the breeder

I'm Hillary T., the breeder behind Amethyst Silken Windhounds located in Olympia, WA. I'm a small, hobbyist breeder of Silken Windhounds focusing on temperament, health, and structure. My breeding dogs have been genetically tested by Embark, and OFA tested for thyroid, heart (echo), and eyes. I only place puppies within a THREE HOUR RADIUS of Olympia WA.

Q. & A. with Hillary

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started as a pet home and evolved into a racing and lure coursing home, and later also got involved in conformation. Silkens have been life changing for me in the best way and I want to share that experience with others! I look forward to getting my puppy people out to playdates as well as events when the puppies are older, and bringing them into the Pacific Northwest silken community!
  • What makes your program special?

Temperament is the biggest factor for me. I start with great parents, provide mom with great nutrition, tons of support and minimize her stress during pregnancy, and continue to follow Avidog's program once puppies are born. I go the extra mile with puppies and get puppy homes involved with visits early so we have a relationship and they've spent lots of time with the puppies before they go home.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
