I'm Lex B., the breeder behind Apricity Kennel located in Mc Comb, OH. At Apricity Kennel, we want to ensure the dogs we breed are the very best. Health, temperament, and adherence to the written breed standard are of utmost importance to our program. Whether looking for your next show dog, performance dog, or just a family pet; we will always strive for perfection. This breed is family before anything else. When not actively hunting, the Hokkaido is a cherished family companion and guardian in Japan. When not actively showing or trialing, our dogs can be found playing in the backyard with the kids, cuddling with us on the couch, or accompanying us on many outdoor adventures.
Q. & A. with Lex
Why did you start breeding?
After spending many years showing as a junior and helping my mentor raise litters, I realized I was ready to purchase a foundation female of my own. Yuki was welcomed into the family from the Czech Republic. After two years of showing and partaking in various performance events, she whelped her first litter. The ball started rolling after that as more Hokkaido began joining our family.
What makes your program special?
We are one of three NIPPO licensed Hokkaido kennels in North America. Our sires and dams are both titled show dogs and excellent family companions. All dogs are health and temperament tested to ensure the most sound next-generation possible. Our litters are raised with Puppy Culture and leave for their new homes well socialized, knowing basic obedience cues and an understanding of potty training.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
