I'm Virginia D., the breeder behind Ashford Kennel located in Rochester, NY. As a preservation AKC dog breeder concerned w/health, conformation & temperament. Dedicated to Lowchen, I strive to produce quality dogs by studying pedigrees, temperament, structure & genetics before every breeding. It would be my pleasure to introduce your family to your next forever companion!

Why did you start breeding?
I have always loved dogs & knew when young, I would breed & show dogs. Having participated in Afghan Hound rescue, makes me more mindful & sensitive as a breeder-I think. Because of rescue, I chose a small, easy-care, very rare (at the time) breed. My puppies are very carefully placed, with contracts. I love to hear from puppy buyers, some of which are 2nd & 3rd generation buyers!!! Call FMI!What makes your program special?
We are ethical hobby breeders breeding healthy, beautiful Lowchen. No dog themselves, or who has parents with any health/temperament issues is ever used in our breeding program. I am proud my dogs are in almost every American & often foreign pedigrees! Our dogs come with the best health guarantee available. I love what I do and truly want the very best for my puppies and their forever families!What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include silver, red sable, gold sable, gold brindle, gold, fawn sable, fawn, cream, chocolate, blue, black and tan, black and silver, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

"All puppies are vet-checked & have health certificates, are vaccinated & micro-chipped. They have hands on socialization with people and animals! They live in our homes. Refunds are refundable ONLY if we do not have a puppy available for the buyer. If deposit is made and buyer cirumstances change, we will apply this deposit to a future puppy."

About Sadiq
Solid Blk & Silver male who has a lovely dark black coat. Sadiq has lovely large eyes, beautiful bone structure and is a sound mover. He is very sweet. Sadiq has even made peace with our cat who was an outdoor Tomcat before being promoted to house duty. Only 2 points away from his AKC championship with very limited showing, we expect to finish his championship this year. Sadiq loves people and demonstrates this daily. He is very attentive and wants to please. He is great with strangers and friends alike.

Samara or Squirt-depending on who’s talking is a female Lowchen. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Virginia decided to make her part of their program. Virginia has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.

Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
