As experienced breeders, we focus on raising healthy, happy, and well-socialized puppies that make wonderful family companions. Our Basenjis are raised in a loving home environment, where they receive plenty of attention, training, and care. We maintain the highest standards in breeding.

Why did you start breeding?
My journey with Basenjis began in early childhood, as my family has been breeding Basenjis since 1980. I fell in love with their distinctive charm as a child. With the guidance of mentors and formal breeding classes, I transformed this lifelong passion into a family endeavor. Today, I share the joy of Basenjis with my own kids, raising our puppies as cherished members of the family.What makes your program special?
Our breeding program is rooted in decades experience and a deep love for the Basenji breed. What sets us apart is our focus on health, environment, and temperament. Our puppies are raised receiving an abundance of love, socialization, and exposure to a family environment. We believe that this nurturing start gives our Basenjis the strong, loving foundation to become wonderful companions.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include tri-color, mahogany tan and white, blue cream and white, cream and white, brindle and white, black tan and white, and red and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Litter update on 10 Jan. •…✨ 5-Week Puppy Update ✨ These sweet puppies are growing up so fast! At 5 weeks old, they’ve officially graduated from their whelping box and moved into a much larger play area where they can really run, explore, and play. Their days are now filled with wrestling matches, playful tackles, and just the right amount of mischief. They’re discovering new toys, sounds, and experiences every single day, soaking it all in with curious little minds. We’ve added a small dog house to their playpen to gently introduce crate training, and they’re already doing great using the litter box. This week also included their first vaccines, and they did absolutely fantastic — brave, calm, and resilient little pups. And yes… they’ve officially declared war on our house slippers. Any movement near them is an invitation to pounce! Their tiny tails wag nonstop — flying back and forth in pure happiness like little windshield wipers — and it’s impossible not to smile watching them. It’s hard to believe we’re already getting so close to these beautiful babies heading off to their forever homes. They are growing into confident, playful, and loving little companions, and we couldn’t be more proud of them. 💕🐶

The guard rails have been removed from the whelping box, giving the puppies more freedom to explore their space as they grow stronger each day. They’re now learning how to walk—still adorably wobbly, but noticeably more confident with every attempt. Their eyes are beginning to open, offering brief, curious glances at the world around them before they quickly drift back into sleep. With this new stage comes more interaction, gentle curiosity, and those first moments of recognition. Parent health testing
Basenji Puppies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Basenjis.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Fanconi Syndrome, PRA, Basenji Type
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Susan sorry it took me so long to get back to you. LIfe with my Amani has been delightfully busy. She is a joy, so full of energy and curiosity. She and Dagney are getting along well, when she is too much Dagney lets her know to calm down. She house trained in 2 1/2 weeks, the teething took a bit longer. She has grown so fast, now the same size as Dagney. I wanted to check with you regarding having her neutered. If things have not changed Basenji's always go in heat in Oct and puppies come in Dec. Has more breeding changed this schedule. I want to make arrangements with our Vet. I was thinking late July or late August. Again want you to know how grateful this little spirit has become part of our family. I'm not very techy and can't figure out how to send you pictures but she is a beauty. 5 Stars - Wonderful Breeder & Amazing Pup! I can’t thank Susanne enough for bringing Nox into my life. From the moment I brought him home, he’s been such a well-behaved and loving pup—already potty trained at such a young age, incredibly gentle, affectionate, and full of personality. He had a little separation anxiety during the first week, which is expected with such a strong bond, but he’s already making great progress. He’s been such a joy that my mother is now flying across the country to adopt his brother! Susanne was incredibly accommodating during the handoff and even prepared a thoughtful bag of essentials to get Nox started on the right paw. We are beyond thrilled with our Basenji puppy from Susanne! We renamed her Tuli (inspired by the Tularosa Basin near our home in NE El Paso), and she’s been an absolute joy since day one. Tuli is incredibly smart — within just a week, she had already learned her “go mat,” sit, and down commands. She’s adjusting beautifully to crate training, is doing great with potty training, and absolutely adores her big brother, Kobe. She’s wonderfully well-mannered with our neighbors and their kids who come by often — calm, gentle, and very social. Tuli has such a good mind and an amazing temperament. She’s everything we hoped for and more. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better companion, and it’s been so fun to connect with other Basenji owners thanks to her little following on TikTok!
