Meet the breeder

I'm TRISTAN F., the breeder behind Black Coal Bullies located in Du Bois, NE. We are a small breeding program. We breed health tested classic, standard, and pocket class American Bullies. Our mission is to better the breed with a focus on health, temperament, and structure as the most important to us. Our dogs and puppies are lovingly raised in our home as part of our family so that we can prepare them to be wonderful additions to yours. We would be honored to connect you with your next American Bully pup!

Q. & A. with TRISTAN

  • Why did you start breeding?

I fell in love with the breed back in 2016 when I brought home my first American Bully puppy, Sadie, who's now our foundation female. From the temperament, look, and lifestyle of the breed, I knew this was the breed for me and I wanted to do my best to improve upon it!
  • What makes your program special?

I am a part of the health testing community which in American Bullies is not very common. I put a lot of hard work into my puppies as well as strive to give them the very best start to life that I possibly can. I am very dedicated to what I do and what I am trying to achieve as a breeder. I work with passion, heart, and integrity, and I truly want what's best for the American Bully line!
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Primo is my purebred American Bully, and she is the best decision I made when I brought her home at the end of 2021. She’ll be four years old on September 9, 2025, and in those years she has filled my life with nothing but joy, laughter, and love. She is absolutely adorable—a living ball of energy who thinks every moment should be playtime. Strong, muscular, and completely unaware of just how powerful she is, Primo can be a bit overwhelming in her enthusiasm, but never in a harmful way. If anything, her enthusiasm is really just an over-the-top eagerness to share her love with everyone around her. Her personality is a perfect mix: smart but stubborn, playful yet well-behaved when it counts. She is well trained, but she still occasionally chooses when to listen, which only adds to her charm, and her temperament is truly wonderful. Around people and other animals, she’s nothing short of perfect—though she’ll always try to steal more attention than she probably deserves. I can honestly say I love her to pieces. Primo is super cute, full of life, and always keeps things interesting. I would recommend her breeder to anyone, because my experience with her has been nothing but happy and successful. Primo is proof of that—she’s my musclebound sweetheart, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
