I'm Kate A., the breeder behind Blue Kai Kennels located in Mineral, VA. We have cultivated a high drive bloodline that excels in any working environment including wild birds, preserve guiding, field trials, dock diving, detection work and man-trailing. Our dogs love to exceed their owner's expectations in the field and at home.
Q. & A. with Kate
Why did you start breeding?
With a business dedicated to upland hunting, it was a very natural progression. Mike and I wanted to add to the breed and be able to offer excellent bird dogs that could also excel in a multitude of disciplines.
What makes your program special?
Our program is based on a high drive line that offers extremely intelligent dogs capable of a multitude of tasks. We are very selective and offer 1-2 litters per year, never breeding the same bitch 2yrs in a row. Our studs are limited in their covers to a select few bitches. We strive to add to the bloodline and we are willing to wait for the right dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include liver roan and liver and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
