I'm Kim B., the breeder behind Brittain Family Farm located in Mikado, MI. Our goal is to produce pups of sound mind and body with great dispositions able to transition well from the farm to home life. Our dogs are an integral part of our farm and daily life. This creates the ideal environment for our puppies. From birth, they grow in a secure, loving environment where they know that they matter to their family - that they have a purpose.
Q. & A. with Kim
Why did you start breeding?
I began breeding once I learned the breed and trained several as LGD's on our farm. I strive to be the breeder I searched for when I was first starting in the breed.
What makes your program special?
We take pride in the time and dedication we give to every puppy and that our puppy families become a part of our extended family.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Brittain Family Farm reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Great Pyrenees.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

My experience with Kim was an absolute pleasure from the first message I sent her. She was very responsive, and I could instantly tell her knowledge and love for this breed. She does a great job of knowing her puppies personalities and placing them with the appropriate family. What I really appreciated was her interested in staying connected throughout the dog's life. She is always available for questions and loves receiving pictures and updates of her puppies. I could not have asked for a better experience. Our 10 month old female, Fern has the sweetest temperament and that is a testament to Kim and the way she sets her puppies up for success. Another point worth mentioning is the amount of people that have gotten multiple dogs from her. I would never consider going anywhere else for a Great Pyrenees.
