I'm Simone Favalli & Ashley Hill, the breeder behind Ca’ Rigada Deutsch Drahthaar (GWP) located in Connecticut. Our dogs complete the robust health/behavior testing required for generations by their breed club - and more. We emphasize socialization and training, performed by a certified trainer. Our passion is raising puppies that excel equally in the home and field.
Q. & A. with Simone Favalli & Ashley Hill
Why did you start breeding?
My first job was cleaning kennels and assisting a gundog trainer and breeder in Northern Italy. After years of working with various sporting breeds, I chose the Drahthaar/GWP, combining my talents with the robust genetic material in the breed. Ashley's passion as a trainer and for canine wellness led her to seek a dog from me, which is how we met. We now pursue this shared passion together.
What makes your program special?
While the German VDD breed club has required health and rigorous behavior testing for generations, we pair that with additional health testing and science-based early socialization and training carried out first hand by a certified professional trainer (CPDT-KA). Our dogs exhibit superior performance in their field trials and as sporting companions, but are also a joy to be within the home.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
