Meet the breeder

I'm Celeste M., the breeder behind Celeste Italian Greyhounds located in Frederick, MD. I am a responsible breeder who is passionate about Italian Greyhounds. My dogs are central to my life, and I am proud of their accomplishments. I enjoy participating in conformation and performance events. I subscribe to the breeder's code of ethics found at http://italiangreyhound.org/.

Q. & A. with Celeste

  • Why did you start breeding?

I became highly enamored by the first IG I met! He was a pet, but inspired me to get into the sport of purebred dogs, as the AKC calls it. No other breed made me think "hey, there really should be more of these".
  • What makes your program special?

I pay attention to performance aptitude in addition to conformation, health and temperament. I believe the best way to do this is to compete at racing and lure coursing. To me, this breed is supposed to be speedy, have some predator qualities, and be sturdier than they look. You can't develop these little guys into the athletes they long to be with only leash-walking. They need to run...safely.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include white and fawn, white and red, white and seal, white and blue fawn, white and blue, blue fawn, red, fawn, seal, and blue. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Celeste

Celeste has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $400 deposit and between $1,400 - $2,100 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“I charge a premium for females just because I am more likely to keep a female, and buyers seem to prefer them out of proportion to their numbers. Refundable for 72 hours, people change their mind and I understand, but it costs me time and messes me up. I don't ask for deposits until I'm pretty darn sure you are 1) sincere and 2) really suitable for this breed AND a particular pup. Therefore DO NOT send me deposit money until I ask for it! Usually you've met the dog/puppy first!”

Contract & health guarantee

Celeste may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Celeste offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Celeste directly.

Celeste Italian Greyhound was a wonderful place to purchase our greyhound Dante. Being a small breeder made everything more personal. We got to meet Celeste on a one on one basis. We took our time and selected Dante.
