I'm Chantell R., the breeder behind Chantilly chihuahuas located in Westport, NY. Chantilly Chihuahua is a small show kennel nestled in the beautiful mountains of the Adirondacks Lake Placid Region. We have been breeding chihuahuas for 22 years, and during that time, we have developed a strong reputation for producing healthy, well-socialized, and loving chihuahuas. Our chihuahuas are an integral part of our family, and they are raised in our home with our children and on our farm. We believe this environment provides our chihuahuas with the socialization and stimulation they need to become happy and well-adjusted adults. We take great pride in the quality of our chihuahuas, and we exhibit both long and smooth-coat chihuahuas in various colors. We understand that every owner has different preferences, and we strive to produce chihuahuas that meet the unique needs of each individual. At Chantilly Chihuahua, we are committed to the health and well-being of our chihuahuas. That is why we fully OFA CHIC health test and Embark on all our breeding dogs to ensure we produce as healthy puppies as possible. We believe owning a chihuahua is a unique experience, and we take our responsibility as breeders very seriously.   • Why did you start breeding?

    Fell in love with the breed in 2000 got my first breeding pair in 2001 and have been breeding ever since. I absolutely adore the breed and couldn't imagine breeding any different breeds. I’ve had several people tell me I have the nicest chihuahuas they are ever meet. Because of the dogs in my breeding program and my presentation of them peoples idea of chihuahuas is forever changed after they meet them. After all, many do believe the breed can be "ankle biters". My personal mission is to change peoples pre-conceived notions of chihuahuas. Chihuahua's can be some of the most loving and loyal companions to their humans and housemates.

  • What makes your program special?

    We love my chihuahuas as beloved family members. I don't think that makes us anymore special then other chihuahua breeders but we make our puppies and adults feel special because they are to us.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include long and smooth coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include merle, chocolate, cream, fawn, black sabled fawn, fawn brindled black, black and tan, blue and tan, blue merle, chocolate and tan, cream and white, fawn and white, red and white, chocolate and white, and gold and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and guardian homes.

Getting a puppy from Chantell

Chantell has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Chantell partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“I like to review the application then text potential owners. I set up videos chats with potential owner(s) and puppy. Once we are through this process I send the contract to be reviewed. Once reviewed and signed and deposit sent the puppy will be marked as reserved.”

Puppy prices include a $1,000 non-refundable deposit and between $2,200 - $5,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price range based on quality of puppy and weather or not full rights wanted. Usually from 3000-6000. You will have health guarantee, AKC papers as requested, utd on shots, dewormed, started on paper training, crate training and well socialized. Zip 12993 I have a 6yr and 12yr old daughters that play with them all the time. They are not just pets they are loved family members. My dogs are six generations health certified for eyes, heart, and knees. It not cheap doing all this testing to make sure your new fur baby has the best foundation possible. They are also Embark test for over 200 know genetic disorders and they are clear. 1000 non-refundable.”

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
