German Shorthaired Pointer
About Minnie
Minnie is a bold and intelligent German Shorthaired Pointer with a strong hunting background and a sweet, devoted nature at home. She has hunted across seven states, pursuing pheasant, quail, grouse, and woodcock with enthusiasm and precision. Minnie holds an Advanced Retrieving title and has multiple passes toward her AKC Junior Hunter title. In the field, she’s focused and determined; at home, she’s affectionate, gentle, and eager to please—making her a reliable hunting partner and a loving family companion.
Good health testing
Good level
Covey Rise GSPs reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shorthaired Pointers.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

Such an amazing experience working with Brett. From our very first conversation until the day we picked up Daisy, Brett was absolutely first class. Our vet even remarked that Daisy was probably the best-bred puppy she had seen in the last 15 years. Every little detail was carefully thought through, and it shows in Daisy. We are over the moon and can’t say enough great things about Brett!

Goose is settling in great. He is precious. Wahiawa our other GSP has taken to him and they walk the yard a few times a day, terrorizing the chickens and scarring away all the 8 and 12 point deer. Brett thank you for raising a great little boy. Sincerely, Frank

The amount of attention to detail and care Brett put into his dogs is incredible; he truly cares about the dogs and developing well rounded pups. He is extremely knowledgeable of the breed, and has been a fantastic resource through this whole process!
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
