I'm Shanda F., the breeder behind Cryptic Rat Terriers located in Lynn, AL. Our dogs are our life! Truly! The dogs are shown and sported whenever possible from our rural location. All of our dogs hunt when possible, and all are clear for PLL/PRA-PRCD, we also perform OFAs on breeding animals.

Why did you start breeding?
We had a poorly bred Rat Terrier that made us fall in love with the breed, and pushed us to do better than she had to ensure others don't have to go through the same as we did.What makes your program special?
We have purebred Rat Terriers that are functional at their intended purpose of hunting. You will not find any "Deckers" here.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include white and fawn, white and chocolate, white, chocolate and tan, black tan and white, white black and tan, white and blue, white and black, blue white and tan, black white and tan, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Shanda
Shanda has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices include a $250 non-refundable deposit and $750 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“AKC and or UKC registration, the puppies are dewormed, have a health certificate from the vet, first set of shots, dew claws removed, and tails docked. The deposit is non refundable unless in the case of puppy death or unexpected problem with puppy while it is in our care.”
Contract & health guarantee
Shanda may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Standard size black and white female with flashy piebald markings and ticking. Chance has an amazing nose and can trail her prey with ease, even tracking where a squirrel has walked with pinpoint accuracy. She is an excellent mark dog and shows great interest in prey.

Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Primary Lens Luxation (PLL)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
