I'm Marina, the breeder behind DiLusso Chihuahuas located in Monroe, NC. At DiLusso we focus on breeding excellence. My dogs regularly compete in the show ring and are proven champions. Puppies are bred for health, temperament, and to meet conformation standards. Our ultimate goal is to produce healthy, athletic and well-structured canines that can excel within various performance venues and have the ability to be the greatest family companions.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My goal is to better the breed. I would like to see Chihuahuas maintain AKC standard qualities and educate others on what those qualities are and how to preserve them. It is important to me that I not only continue my own phenomenal bloodlines, but that I am improving this breed with each litter and ensuring the well-being of these dogs for generations more to come!

  • What makes your program special?

    My breeding program is small, therefore I have more time to train each puppy individually. I only breed top-quality dogs with phenomenal bloodlines. Health, temperament, and conformation are vitally important to me. It has taken 5 years of hard work and preparation to even start my program. All of my dogs are health tested and cleared. I have 7 Champion Chihuahuas and all of my dogs are highly intelligent. My dogs hold titles in: TKA, CGC, GCHS, Star Puppy, AKC Puppy Achievements, and AKC canine good citizen. Your puppy will have a pedigree of some of the most famous champions from around the world.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include smooth and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Marina

Puppy prices include a $2,000 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $8,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

    Marina did a wonderful job explaining to me things Happy Henny already knew for commands. Things he was beginning to like. What to do when it comes to cleaning teeth and cutting nails.     Marina is very responsive and knowledgeable about Chihuahuas. What’s refreshing is that Marina doesn’t just care about the money. Marina is passionate about her dogs, and Marina takes time to get to know people interested in adopting one of her dogs. Upon submitting my application for Boris, we FaceTimed and I showed Marina around my house to give her an idea of what Boris’ potential new home would look like. We got to know each other a bit, and soon after, we planned for her to fly Boris to Florida. This leads me to the next thing I loved about the experience, which was Marina staying in the area for several days to make sure Boris had a smooth transition to his new home. We got to know each other even more, and she explained and demonstrated the best way I can bond quickly with Boris and continue to socialize him with people. It’s been almost a year since adopting Boris, and while he’s acclimated to his new life in Florida with my family (and is spoiled rotten), I always remember Marina’s advice and tips. There’s so much more I could write, but overall, the experience was wonderful, and if I were to get another Chihuahua, I would choose to get one through her again!

    I wanted a long-haired Chihuahua so badly but was concerned that I would unknowingly purchase a puppy mill dog. That’s when I found Gooddog.com. I started looking through the many Chihuahuas that were for sale and DiLusso Chihuahuas caught my eye. I wanted to avoid the super young puppy age and she had a few “toddler” aged Chihuahuas available. I sent her a message and she quickly got back with me. We had a phone interview where we were both able to ask each other questions. Her questions made it perfectly clear that she wanted nothing more than the best for her dogs. She was not just selling her dogs to whomever wanted to buy one. She was looking for a home that would take great care of them and would love them completely. Her first priority was what would be best for the dog, not how quickly she would get her payment. I explained to her what personality traits I was looking for and she recommended my sweet Charlie. I saw him on video and talked a great deal with her before I decided that I wanted to buy him. I flew to her state and she picked me up at the airport with Charlie waiting in his special little car seat. He was, and still is just an adorable dog and I fell in love with him immediately. His personality was exactly what she had stated and to top it off, he was potty trained, is great on car rides, is amazingly calm and well behaved on plane rides and is far from the aggressive Chihuahua that is oftentimes portrayed.     My boy Callisto came to me at the perfect time, I lost my elderly chihuahua earlier that year, my husband was moving to Puerto Rico and I was remaining in Charlotte to finish a project. I found Marina and DiLusso Chihuahua's on Good Dog when looking for a companion and was thrilled that she was in the Charlotte area. Marina had the most beautiful long hair chi puppies and I lucked out with one of her males. I could tell how much Marina cares for each of her puppies and wanted to ensure they each went to a great home. She had a hard time saying goodbye to little man herself, and I understand.
