I'm Deanna D., the breeder behind Double D Picards and GWPs located in Umatilla, FL. At Double D, it is of the utmost importance to us that our dogs are health tested and have well-balanced temperaments. We start them out on day one with ENS (early neurological stimulation), and our GWP pups are introduced to birds at around 4 weeks. Our Berger Picards and GWPs are among the top show and performance dogs in the US and Asia. We are proud to be Breeders of Merit with the AKC.
Q. & A. with Deanna
Why did you start breeding?
We got into breeding with the Berger Picard about 20 years ago. We imported our first Picard from Austria, and at that time there were only about 11 in North America. We fell in love with the breed and wanted to introduce them to the world. It's been an amazing journey and we love to share these wonderful breeds with others.
What makes your program special?
We produce and own dogs that excel in show, performance, and field. They are also amazing family pets. We have been able to produce type and a signature look in both of our breeds. People can recognize a Double D dog anywhere. We own and have produced National Specialty winners, BOB winners at Westminster, and BOB AKC National Championship multi-group winning and field winning dogs. We have high expectations for our puppies and strive to place each one in an enriching and loving home!
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include liver and white and liver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
