I'm Penny H., the breeder behind Eg er Icelandics located in Waterloo, NY. Our Goals in breeding are to preserve an amazing breed of dog. With a can do attitude and a body that can let them do anything we are happy to place our dogs with homes that want to do it all. We have dogs currently training in Agility and Obedience, Fast Cat and Herding as well as Barnhunt!
Q. & A. with Penny
Why did you start breeding?
When you are handed a puppy and you think that you want to show up and support your breeder, you put them into the open puppy class. Then over specials your little baby puppy gets selected as Best of breed. Not just one day but both days of that weekend. You start thinking maybe your dog deserves to be part of the gene pool. Then you put titles on her and get her health tested, and puppies happen.
What makes your program special?
We try very hard to do all right by the breed. We breed for genetic diversity, while focusing on the faults of our own dogs we are able to find the correct studs to hopefully better our puppies. We strive for sound happy puppies that will do whatever their future owners want them to do. Each litter potentially has a goal in mind. Temperament and structure and happy dogs is our goal in every litter
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are sable and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Gledi, mom
Icelandic Sheepdog
About Gledi
Gledi is an amazing dog. She is always down for whatever you are wanting to do. Sure, she has her own opinions on things, what icie doesnt, but with a little bribery she is happy to do anything. She has tried a lot of things including Herding, obedience, barnhunt, fastcat, and conformation. She has seen agility equipment but handler knees keep her from zooming around an agility field. The only thing she asked never to do again is Conformation. Standing still, its not her thing, and she happily passed that to all her pups. She has an amazing herding sense and we are hopeful that that too passed down.
Glee, mom
Icelandic Sheepdog
About Glee
Glee is a female Icelandic Sheepdog. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Penny decided to make her part of their program. Penny has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.
