Meet the breeder

I'm Beth H., the breeder behind Elsbeth's Chihuahuas located in Chesapeake, VA. All our adult dogs visit the vet regularly, have their shots, and are on heartworm preventative. The puppies come home with a vet check and first shots. All our pairings have at least one dog parent with champion bloodlines. The parents are Embark and DNA tested. Some are also Paw Print Genetics/Orivet tested.

Q. & A. with Beth

  • Why did you start breeding?

Chihuahuas are my family's passion. We have had these little guys in our lives since the early 2000s. We were aware of the mixed results of other breeders. They kept their dogs penned up most of the time, and there was little love or attention given to this loyal breed. My family and I wanted to do better. We have had puppies who have gone on to be emotional support dogs and win in agility, not to mention great family pets.
  • What makes your program special?

We offer quality Chi's through training classes, mentoring, social media platforms, collaboration with veterinarians, and hands-on experience. We strive to produce loving, healthy puppies. The babies are raised in our great room and are socialized with the sound of children's laughter in the background, our adult dogs playing with them, and with lots of puppy kisses in between. We also have only a few litters a year, which allows us to give each puppy our undivided attention.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable spotted white, merle, black, cream, black sabled fawn, blue, blue brindled fawn, black and white, blue and white, blue and tan, chocolate and white, blue merle, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
