I'm Brittany C., the breeder behind Emerald Isle Dalmatians located in Carterville, IL. My dogs are bred for health and temperament. I'm very proud to help the breed by producing LUA puppies and being cautious of line-breeding. Our puppies are sound-minded from a loving environment.
Q. & A. with Brittany
Why did you start breeding?
My mother bred Boxers when I was growing up. Naturally, I wanted to fall in her footsteps. I love being able to bring healthy dogs into the world to become loving family members for other people.
What makes your program special?
I am a small hobby breeder. I do not keep our dogs in kennels. The puppies are raised in my bedroom until they're 2 weeks and then they're moved to the living room. These puppies already know what it's like to be in a loving home. My program also revolves around producing more LUA Dalmatians that end up making the breed healthier.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Emerald Isle Dalmatians reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Dalmatians.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Hyperuricosuria (HUU)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
