I'm Kayla L., the breeder behind Emerald Rat Terriers located in Booneville, MS. My breeding dogs are first and foremost my beloved pets. For our mutual enjoyment we also do sports, conformation showing and have litters of puppies occasionally.

Why did you start breeding?
Since I've always dreamt of a career where I worked with dogs, whether it be a groomer, a veterinarian, a dog trainer... it seemed like the natural foregone conclusion to become a preservation breeder. In 2023 I went to a show with a friend and helped with her Rat Terriers, falling in love with one in particular, the rest is history.What makes your program special?
I plan for the future with a mixed focus on health, temperament, and structure. I believe Rat Terriers should be driven enough to ward off rodents, but confident enough to go out to parks, barbeques, and events with their owner, and affectionate enough to hang out with children under supervision. I plan to breed for a solid temperament, sound structure, and an appealing appearance,What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include fawn white and tan, white and blue, black white and tan, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
Getting a puppy from Kayla

Kayla partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

Fizzy is a female Rat Terrier. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Kayla decided to make her part of their program.
