I'm Erin S., the breeder behind Empyre Great Pyrenees located in Antwerp, NY. The Great Pyrenees is our passion! Our goal is to preserve the integrity of the breed in health, genetic diversity, temperament, and conformation. All of our dogs live in our home as part of our family and puppies are raised utilizing the Puppy Culture program. We strive to breed well rounded puppies that can guard livestock, perform in the show ring, snuggle on the couch, or all of the above.

Why did you start breeding?
From the time I was very young I loved dogs and was fascinated with everything about them. I had always wanted to breed but I had to make sure I was in a place in my life to devote the time I felt was needed to do so. I fell in love with Great Pyrenees and realized it was the breed for me! I studied, researched, and planned for three years before finally having my first litter.What makes your program special?
At the forefront of my program is health! It breaks my heart to hear of Great Pyrenees dying or having a less than wonderful quality of life due to a disease that can be prevented by genetically testing the parents. I breed for puppies with wonderful temperaments that can guard livestock, perform in the show ring, or cuddle on the couch. A Great Pyrenees should be able to do all above interchangeably.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Getting a puppy from Erin
Erin has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Erin partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.
“Puppies are not placed based color, markings, or whether the puppy "picks you". When taking reservations, only sex preference is reserved. We do not begin picks for individual puppies of reserved sex until they are seven weeks old after temperament testing is completed. Those first seven weeks also gives us time to closely watch emerging personalities to further evaluate what type of home would be a good fit. We do not pick your puppy for you, but armed with our information, work together with you to decide which puppy will be best for your family. While we base puppy placement on temperament first and foremost, we do take preferences on markings and appearance into consideration. If more than one puppy is a match temperament wise, you may then pick your puppy on appearance from matched puppies. ”
Price
“Price includes prepaid AKC registration, 1st vaccination timed by nomograph, age appropriate deworming, veterinary health examination, microchip with lifetime enrollment in AKC reunite, and a lifetime of breeder support from the moment your puppy is born. Puppies are raised with a combination of Puppy Culture, AviDog, and Empowered Breeder curriculum, and will be started on potty training, and basic puppy manners. Our reservation fee is generally nonrefundable, but this policy will be reviewed on a case by case basis.”

Litter update on 26 May •…☔️🌦 The Spring Showers babies are 5 weeks old😱 They are so stinking cute!! Over the weekend they moved into the toddler pen! They are drinking water and have graduated from mush to softened puppy food. They love exploring new areas, walking on new surfaces, and meeting new little humans. Next step is the great outdoors!!🌳🐜🍃🐞🌱

Litter update on 21 May •…Happy Thursday from the Spring Showers babies! ☔️🌦 Everyone had breakfast and explored at their own pace outside of the whelping box..everyone has been super brave! Tomorrow is the big day and they will graduate to the toddler pen! In the video they are getting sleepy and looking for their perfect napping spot. As you can see, everyone prefers the cool sealed concrete vs the blanket. It's a good visual to show new puppy families that when crate training, that plush dog bed may be too hot for their little one. I recommend a thin fleece blanket or even their Lambchop that I send home so they can stay cool but still snuggle🥰

Litter update on 19 May •…☔️🌦Yesterday the Spring Showers babies turned 4 weeks old! They are expert mush eaters (although Foggy is a little messy because of his unique eating style, you'll see in the photos😉😆) and potty box champs. We graduated from potty pads to real potty boxes, and have had no 💩 out of the boxes for these smart babies! By the weekend we will make the move to the toddler pen, these guys are really moving now🤗

Litter update on 13 May •…The Spring Showers babies turned 3 weeks old on Monday!☂️🌈🌦 They had their first taste of puppy mush yesterday and it was super messy, but they'll get the hang of it in no time🤗 The 3 week individual pics are pretty adorable!!

Litter update on 11 May •…💝💐Hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day!! The Spring Showers babies got some new digs! We expanded their whelping box so we could add a potty area and still have ample room for Mama Phoebe to lay down and nurse. We start with potty pads and a sprinkle of pine pellets. As the babies get used to the feel of the pellets and are more steady on their feet we will move to potty trays with just pellets. As you can see, a few of babies are starting to get the hang of where to potty already! Keeping bedding super clean at all times, and leaving the smell of where they potty in the correct spot helps their natural instincts. Lots of laundry for this human Mama initially while they learn😘 Look at little Foggy making his way to the milk bar😆🥰

Litter update on 04 May •…☂️🌈🌧The Spring Shower babies are 2 weeks old! Everyone has more than doubled their birth weights and grew out of their newborn collars, so they're sporting new big baby collars. We are almost done with ENS and ESI, and they're lifting their heads and exploring the whelping box, although they are still pretty wobbly🤗. You can tell that ears are starting to open as they lift their heads toward different sounds, and little peepers will be opening any day now. The babies are now going potty without having to be stimulated by Mom, and as soon as they are more steady on their feet we will be adding potty boxes. Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Chondrodysplasia/Dwarfism, Neuronal Degeneration (NDG), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Glanzmann's Thrombasthenia, Great Pyrenees Type, Multifocal Retinopathy 1 (CMR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

This is my 3rd Great Pyrenees. I have a 2yr old Newfie and wanted him to have a brother! I have to say that Erin was and is the most awesome breeder I have ever worked with! Incredibly knowledgeable and always available for questions and advice. Bromley (Eric) is a well adjusted, very happy puppy and loves his big brother. We have gotten three Great Pyrenees puppies from Erin over the years. And they have all been wonderful! Nobody cares more about her puppies, their parents, and clients than Erin! A lot of breeders tell you they will be there if you need advice or help, but not all of them follow through. Erin does!
