About Nezuko
Nezuko is our foundation female and was bred by Shiranui Kennels. She is a bundle of energy who enjoys being kept busy and doing everything with us. We love her stable temperament and willingness to try new things, meet new people, and show off. As our first true show dog, we are learning a lot together as we began our journey of showing in the UKC conformation ring, and it helps that Nezuko has such a lovely temperament and is appropriately focused on the handler or the task we ask of her.
Nezuko is currently taking classes in dock diving, nosework, and weight pull but also enjoys bike joring and practicing for Trick Dog. She also loves Fast CAT and Frisbee challenges.
Her favorite thing to do is offer air plane ears to everyone she meets and show off toys and bones to guests.
Nezuko is named after a character from “Kimetsu no Yaiba”.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Great level
Futago Kennels reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Japanese Akitainus.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Amelogenesis Imperfecta (AI), Akita Type
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
