I'm Gale C., the breeder behind Galeway Irish Terriers located in Norton, MA. Together, we have been breeding & showing Irish since 1994. My husband grew up in the conformation show world, since the 50's. We strive to breed to the Irish Terrier Club of America's standard and ethics. We also enjoy working with our dogs in performance - scent work, trick dog and therapy, where our retired dogs have been enjoying visits to nursing homes for therapy working and to adults with disabilities.
Even if we are not planning a litter, or don't have pups yet - we encourage you to visit and see the breed !
Q. & A. with Gale
Why did you start breeding?
I've always loved biology, genetics and dogs ! My husband and family had a working terrier kennel in Massachusetts. My mother-in-law was a professional handler and breeder of Champion Smooth Fox, Wire Fox, and Australian terriers for over 60 years. A fountain of knowledge. Marrying into this family was the beginning of my showing and breeding journey.
What makes your program special?
I have a desire for health and a great temperament. I've been blessed with great mentors who taught me everything I know, and I am driven to give my program my best efforts. You never stop learning !
I enjoy the science of breeding and mostly this outstanding breed of Irish Terriers. They're a very special family dog. Their personality suits us and they are always teaching! They love to learn , using their brain. They excel in performance work.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red and red wheaten. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
