Cynthia S.

Breeder of Portuguese Water Dogs

Meet the breeder

I'm Cynthia S., the breeder behind Great Lakes PWDS located in North Carolina. We breed healthy Portuguese Water Dogs with a focus on temperament and conformation. We take pride in breeding dogs that are titled in performance, and have a full agility course for our dogs. Our dogs are family and bring us so much joy. We want to share how amazing PWDS are with everyone.

Q. & A. with Cynthia

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always loved dogs whether it be grooming or showing them. It was a natural next step to get into breeding and do what I can to better the breed.
  • What makes your program special?

Our dogs live as pets in our home, and are provided a doggy door with access to a fully fenced backyard for them to explore. We provide a full agility setup in our backyard for the dogs. We are passionate about including families in the puppies growth, so we make separate Facebook groups for each litter.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Cynthia

Cynthia has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include between $2,800 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes the puppy guarantee, the first round of vaccinations, deworming, first puppy check up, a Cerf eye exam, and a microchip, and the registration papers for AKC. I don’t usually take deposits. If I do take a deposit, it’s only after the puppies are on the ground and doing well. It doesn’t guarantee that you will get a puppy. It will be refunded if I don’t have a puppy for you.”

Contract & health guarantee

Cynthia may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Cynthia offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Cynthia directly.
