I'm Joanna S., the breeder behind Haiku Rat Terriers located in Haiku, HI. We are huge animal lovers and have a special place in our hearts for our dogs. We want to provide top-quality beloved companions. We breed with passion and integrity so we’re able to responsibly contribute to growing this amazing breed. It’s important to us to share the gift of living with one of our puppies with other families.

Why did you start breeding?
I wanted a smaller, shorthaired dog that was intelligent, athletic and sturdy. I decided on rat terriers. I did a lot of research and talked to a lot of breeders and imported from health tested, grand champion lines. At seven months old I started training my female in search and rescue and she has been phenomenal. Very loving, very loyal, and very easy to train.What makes your program special?
As far as I can find, I am the only breeder of standard rat terriers in the Hawaiian islands. I only planned to produce a few litters of exceptional puppies.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include white black and tan, black white and tan, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Joanna
Joanna has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Price
Puppy prices include a $500 refundable deposit and $1,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“My puppy price includes first shot, deworming, 30 days and free puppy health insurance. I am available to help for the life time of the puppy. Your deposit holds your puppy. It guarantees that once the puppies are ready to go to their homes that your pick puppy will be available to you.”
Contract & health guarantee
Joanna may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
