Meet the breeder

I'm Lauren W., the breeder behind Hayat Salukis located in Cameron, NC. I am a hobby breeder of Salukis with a focus primarily on the conformation ring, but my dogs also lure course and do other fun sports. Please check out the links at the bottom of my profile for more information on me and my program and check out my site for my complete application.

Q. & A. with Lauren

  • Why did you start breeding?

I grew up going to dog shows, and the Saluki always stood out to me as a breed that I wanted to own one day. I have also always been fascinated with genetics and breeding, and it was destiny for me to eventually end up breeding my own dogs. I have a deep interest in breed preservation especially of rare and declining breeds.
  • What makes your program special?

I am purposeful in everything that I do regarding my dogs, which includes careful selection of breeding dogs and extensive health testing. I only breed dogs which are fully health tested and titled with prefix titles. Please make sure that any saluki breeder you buy from is doing appropriate health testing and can provide proof. Required health tests are echocardiogram, thyroid, and SSADHD.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Lauren

Lauren has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Lauren partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.

“I match puppies according to conformation, drive, and temperament. Buyers do not choose puppies though they can list preferences for what they want. Buyers can choose to not take the puppy that is chosen for them if they don't want who is offered. ”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 refundable deposit and $2,708.56 final payment, before taxes & fees.
Pay over time with Klarna.

“I keep my price along with the typical price of a well bred individual of this breed. I ask for a deposit upon the matching of a puppy to a family, i.e, there is a puppy for you in this litter. This deposit will not be taken before 6 weeks of age.”

Contract & health guarantee

Lauren may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Lauren offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don't hesitate to reach out to Lauren directly.

All contracts are handled securely through Good Dog.
