I'm Trisha H., the breeder behind Hitchcock Homestead located in New Palestine, IN. We had no idea the moment our first Great Pyrenees stepped onto our property how much we would fall in love with this breed. They are the most amazing gentle giants, but also fierce protectors of our little homestead keeping predators away from our chickens. We are so grateful we have had no predators cause harm since they joined our homestead.
Our mission in breeding AKC Great Pyrenees is to only better the breed and raise the most well rounded puppies using the puppy culture method. Our dam and sire are both livestock guardians, but also are beloved family pets that come in occasionally for visits which they adore. We were diligent in choosing our dam and sire to meet the conformation and temperament we strive to pass on.
We raise our puppies inside for the first few weeks so I can keep a constant eye on the pups and mom weighing them daily, making sure they are all nursing well, and mama is well cared for during delivery, postpartum and nursing. This allows them to also get used to being inside a home with all the sights and sounds. Then at 3-4 weeks we move them out to our barndo garage where they have a nice cozy place to keep warm, but yet have access to run and play safely in a fenced in puppy area next to our chickens.
I am a stay at home mom who homeschools my 4 children. These puppies will be well loved and socialized daily from our family. As we devote our time to helping Valor raise her puppies it is extremely important we find loving homes that are a good fit for your lifestyle whether you want a livestock guardian or a family pet.
We are taking reservations to reserve a puppy in the order of deposit. Then at 6 weeks we will have puppy selection. At this time we can help guide you to the puppy that best fit the qualities, temperament, and role you plan for them to have whether it is a livestock guardian or beloved family pet. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to reserve a puppy. We love to chat about our beloved great pyrenees! It is an honor to walk alongside Valor as she raises these puppies and find the pyrfect home for them.
