Meet the breeder

I'm Laura L., the breeder behind Idaho Wirehaired Pointing Griffons located in Emmett, ID. Our goal is to produce healthy, well-rounded Wirehaired Pointing Griffons that excel as companions both in the field and in the home. We decided to start a responsible, in-home breeding program in order to produce quality hunting dogs that also fit into a home setting. We focus on breeding dogs that have the drive to keep up with our lifestyle, but also have amazing temperaments and can quickly adapt to a calm family setting.

Q. & A. with Laura

  • Why did you start breeding?

My late husband Nathan and I started bird hunting and breeding wpgs together. He was the trainer and more of the hunter. I took care of the day to day with the dogs and puppies. He unfortunately passed away unexpectedly while upland bird hunting with a couple of our dogs. I have now kept the breeding program going on my own and have started hunting with all the dogs to keep them in the field.
  • What makes your program special?

We breed each litter of puppies with the goal of superior temperament, health, conformation, movement, and the natural ability and drive to hunt. We take great pride in our dogs, and they produce outstanding puppies.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include white and brown, chestnut and gray, and brown and gray. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in a kennel on my property.
