Meet the breeder

I'm Tamara D., the breeder behind Ierne Irish Wolfhounds located in Cary, NC. The breeder you choose should match your personality and be a resource for your family. Take time to talk to MANY breeders before deciding which is best for you. We do not take deposits, changing your mind shouldn't be an expensive lesson, nor is it in the best interest of the owner or the puppy.

Q. & A. with Tamara

  • Why did you start breeding?

I acquired my first Irish Wolfhound from the back of a pick up truck in 1991. I met my first reputable breeder shortly after as I began to delve into the breed. She introduced me to conformation and lure coursing and I was hooked. She provided me with my second wolfhound a year later and we are still life long friends. Sometimes it seems like it was just yesterday and not nearly 30 years ago.
  • What makes your program special?

We strive to produce puppies sound in body and spirit, but sometimes bad things still happen. We are committed to all our puppies, including those who fall ill. We have the same commitment to our owners. Caring for a puppy is a life long partnership between myself and the owner. Once a puppy goes home it becomes a member of the owner's family, but we are still here and willing to help.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
