Meet the breeder

I'm Scot J., the breeder behind Johnwicki Terriers located in New Glarus, WI. Our dogs are bred first and foremost with health and temperament in mind. While we never thought we would breed dogs, we realize that more of the world needs to meet and own these amazing rare terriers. We thoughtfully breed for top quality and temperament, whether it's for the show ring or for the loving family home.

Q. & A. with Scot

  • Why did you start breeding?

Michael and Scot chose to turn their passion of purebred dogs into an (almost full-time) hobby of conformation. After years in the conformation ring, we decided that we needed to do more for this amazing breed. We are not a high volume breeder, but rather a conservation breeder focused on preserving breed type and temperament.
  • What makes your program special?

ALL of our dogs are first and foremost our family. They all live in the home, sleep on our bed (yes, it's a tight fit) and our puppies are whelped and raised on an entirely separate floor of our house. We moved to the country on 7 acres in order to have more space (and peace and quiet). Now we know why we made the move, to breed Ceskys!
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Dentition

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
