I'm Jim J., the breeder behind Julson Kennel located in Colman, SD. Producing SM’s that are great companions and even better hunting partners has been a real joy. I am truly blessed with three exceptional sons who share my passion for hunting and fishing and to have these SM’s that have enhanced the whole experience. Not only through hunting and raising them but also through the great people, we have met who are providing loving homes for our pups.

Why did you start breeding?
When my Son' were just about to reach hunting age we purchased our first SM. I knew a good dog was important. When that dog was about 4 we realized we would need a replacement. I located a good male through the breed club I was a member of. The boys helped whelp that litter. Once the boys left home I decided to become more involved inbreeding. Access to a large German gene pool has helpedWhat makes your program special?
I have access to a database (55000+, 40 years) and personal contacts that can help me locate good pups, females, and males to mate them to. Personal contact help with local unpublished information. I place pups based on the owner's personality and needs using a temperament and aptitude evaluation done on year pups at 7weeks. Mainly of my females have come from Germany with the German Breed Club guidance.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
