Meet the breeder

I'm KATHRYN L., the breeder behind Kalein T Welsh Terriers located in G AI Nesville, FL. We focus on breeding quality puppies that are excellent representations of the breed, well behaved, well socialized and healthy. We care so much about each of our dogs and make sure to find our puppies the perfect families and individuals with lifestyles that will complement this amazing breed.

Q. & A. with KATHRYN

  • Why did you start breeding?

The breeder from whom I got my first WELSHIE mentored me and encouraged me to show, then breed. I found I was successful in matching pups to buyers and have never had a pup returned. Frankly I never mastered grooming, but my housemate and kennel partner did, so she teaches any puppy buyers who wish to learn that skill.
  • What makes your program special?

We really focus on health and temperament ensuring that the pups are very well socialized. When I still worked, the entire litter would accompany me to the office where 300 people took turns playing with, taking them to this offices, or just handling them. My partner, when teaching, took one can in whelp to class so her fifth grade students could feel the pups. At school end, pups were seven weeks old and returned to school where each child picked their favorite pup with whom to have a photograph. One of that litter was kept by us and named (by the class) after the school mascot. The dog was a regular member of the classroom.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
