I'm Kimberly K., the breeder behind Karolaska Great Pyrenees located in Gig Harbor, WA. I am an AKC Breeder of Merit and a member of the AKC H.E.A.R.T Program, Great Pyrenees Club of America Board of Directors, Puget Sound Great Pyrenees Club Boards of Directors, and member of the Mt. Rainier Working Dog Club. We continue to produce exquisite type, for performance, and show while retaining the health, soundness, and vitality of this beautiful noble breed The Great Pyrenees.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My mother Carol Kentopp bred her first litter in 1967 and the rest is history. My mother has since retired and I have continued the Karolaska line producing exquisite type for a family companion, performance, and show while retaining the health, soundness, and vitality of this beautiful noble breed The Great Pyrenees.
  • What makes your program special?

    Karolaska Great Pyrenees has been one of the most influential kennels in North America.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

“Your puppy will come with first vaccination, deworming, puppy socialization while using Puppy Culture training techniques. Puppy receives a veterinarian check-up before releasing to new family. Deposit is only refundable if the breeder does not have a puppy available in the next litter. Approved puppy owners can place the deposit on a future litter.”

  • Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary), Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Multifocal Retinopathy 1 (CMR1), Neuronal Degeneration (NDG)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
