Meet the breeder

I'm Marie, the breeder behind Keystone Gun Dogs/vom Schlussstein Shorthairs located in Stroudsburg, PA. We breed each litter of puppies with the goal of superior temperament, health, conformation, movement, and the natural ability and drive to hunt. We take great pride in our dogs, and they produce outstanding puppies. Let's see if a German Shorthaired Pointer is the perfect addition to your family!

Q. & A. with Marie

  • Why did you start breeding?

When I was 7 years old, I knew I wanted to raise dogs and puppies! Once I received my first GSP in 1980 and raised my first litter in 1982 I was hooked!
  • What makes your program special?

I think what makes my breeding program different from other GSP breeders is that I do all of the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) required health clearances. Where many GSP breeders will hardly do hip and elbow x-rays. My dogs are OFA certified in hips, elbows, eyes, cardiac evaluation (heart), auto-immune thyroiditis, von Willebrand's disease, and cone degeneration. I'm also a lifetime NAVHDA member and train and test my dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
