I'm Kimber S., the breeder behind Kimerik Irish Terriers located in Boise, ID. It is my hope that each litter will be even better than the one before. We do everything we can to help the puppies be prepared to handle the challenges of life. We use Puppy Culture Methods to raise our puppies. We love to follow their guide and help the puppies develop into amazing pets.
Q. & A. with Kimber
Why did you start breeding?
Once we had an Irish I knew we wanted another. We enjoyed showing and training them so much we wanted to contribute to this beautiful breed. We compete in Conformation and Performance sports to help make sure we are only breeding the best. We believe puppies who come from dogs who perform in various sports have what they need to be happy healthy pets.
What makes your program special?
Our dogs are part of our family, for fun they play soccer ball, chase squirrels, go camping and paddle boarding. They compete in conformation, rally, and scent work. These venues are excellent tests for temperament, physical health and resilience. We do health testing.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Kimerik Irish Terriers reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Irish Terriers.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
