Meet the breeder

I'm Brenda L., the breeder behind Knox Rock'n Chihuahuas located in Lewisberry, PA. We strive to produce lovable, social companions to share their lives with a loving family. My Chihuahuas are all AKC registered and all puppies are eligible to be registered with AKC. I enjoy participating in dog sports so good structure, health, trainability and temperament are all very important qualities that I value and want to produce in my puppies. Several of my puppies have gone on to be AKC breed champions, AKC agility champions, therapy dog certified as well as participating in other AKC companion sports like FAST CAT and Rally Obedience. I am a recognized as an AKC Breeder Of Merit.

Q. & A. with Brenda

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have grown so in love with the breed and had considered breeding for many years. Big changes happened in 2020 due to COVID and I decided the timing was right to dive into the breeding adventure. I have remained friends with the breeder whom I got my first chihuahuas from. She has been breeding for over 25 years and is an invaluable resource and mentor to me. We work together with breeding decisions and screening potential homes for our puppies.
  • What makes your program special?

Because I only have a few litters of puppies a year the puppies receive lots of individual attention. They will be litter box trained and get introduced to age appropriate stimulation as they grow. They will experience new surfaces, noises, new people, get acclimated to a crate and go outdoors prior to leaving for their new home. People who reserve a puppy will get weekly pictures, videos and updates on their puppy up until the pickup date. In home visits are welcome to meet puppies and the parents. I am a lifetime reference and available to assist in any way I can with questions a pet parent my have about training or caring for your dog long after they leave with their new puppy.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black sabled fawn, black and white, black and tan, cream and white, and fawn and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Brenda

Brenda has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Brenda partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“Chihuahuas are usually chosen on peoples preference of coat length, color and gender. I do have occasions when I have someone hoping for a show prospect or a performance prospect. While screening a buyer I get a really good idea of how they hope this puppy will fit into their lifestyle. I am very in tune with my girls (as I go to many competitions with them on a regular basis) and know what they potentially can produce and am very familiar with the males I chose for breeding. Because of that I have a very good idea what my girls are likely to produce ex. super people oriented, task oriented, brave, possible show prospect etc. I will not let someone leave with a puppy that shows me that they are not suited for the hopeful buyer. My goal is for a happy buyer and a happy puppy.”
