I'm Erika R., the breeder behind Kushiel Salukis located in Gig Harbor, WA. My family has helped me to produce and co breed multiple litters over these past many years. We have produced AKC champions, specialty winners, and multiple Top 20 ranked salukis in the USA. We have also had multiple dogs from our program gain titles in other areas such as Obedience and Field titles for coursing. We pride our program on our care and involvement of our whole family and all our dogs live with us so we raise our puppies as a part of our household until they go to their new families.
Q. & A. with Erika
Why did you start breeding?
My mother. She was a Samoyed breeder and I actually learned to walk holding onto a Samoyed coat! My mother has been a part of my program from the beginning. Her and I share a love of genetics and enjoy the process of pedigrees and finding the best combinations. We also love competition and travel together for shows when we can. My own eye for a good dog and knowledge of genetics I owe to my amazing mother.
What makes your program special?
My entire family is connected and work together in my program. My daughter, sister, partner, mother, and co-workers are all around and involved when I breed. My dogs are very special to my family and truly our core. I only breed a litter every few years or less depending on the circumstances and our girls. Currently I am the co-breeder and co-owner of the number one saluki bitch in the USA for 2023.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include golden, black and tan, white, red, fawn, cream, and black and silver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
