Meet the breeder

I'm Vikki L., the breeder behind Lane’s Little Long Coats located in Menifee, CA. Welcome to Lane’s Little Longhairs – located in Menifee, CA. I’m a small hobby breeder with a big passion for producing healthy, well-tempered dogs with exceptional genetics. My love for animals, especially dogs, began when I was a little girl. In 2005, I was blessed with the opportunity to work in the veterinary field as a Technician Assistant, allowing me to combine my passion with my career. Over my 11 years in veterinary medicine, I gained extensive knowledge about different breeds—their personalities, unique traits, and the genetic conditions they can face. While I adore all dogs, my heart was especially captured by Long-Haired Chihuahuas. Working in a veterinary hospital specializing in canine reproduction gave me valuable insight into the importance of breeding responsibly. I learned how critical it is to focus on health, temperament, and preserving the qualities that make each breed so special. Before deciding to purchase one of my Chihuahua puppies, I encourage you to take a few minutes to read about hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) in toy breed puppies. While not every puppy will experience hypoglycemia, it is a condition that can occur in very small breeds, especially when they are young. Responsible owners should understand the signs, know how to respond quickly, and be comfortable providing the extra care these tiny puppies may occasionally require. Please research: What hypoglycemia is The signs and symptoms to watch for How it is treated How to help prevent it If, after learning about hypoglycemia, you feel confident that you're prepared to care for a tiny Chihuahua should it ever occur, then a Chihuahua may be a wonderful fit for your family.

Q. & A. with Vikki

  • Why did you start breeding?

My journey into breeding began long before I ever had my first litter—it started in childhood, with an endless love for animals. Growing up, I was the kind of child who could never walk past a dog without stopping to say hello. I dreamed of one day working with animals, and in 2005, that dream came true when I began working as a Veterinary Technician Assistant
  • What makes your program special?

For me, breeding is more than a profession—it’s a calling rooted in a lifelong love of animals, years of veterinary experience, and a commitment to raising healthy, joyful companions for others to love
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have long coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

From the first time I contacted Vikki I could tell I was in very good hands with my little pup. she was very accommodating and responsive with all the questions I had around parentage and the breed. This being my first Chihuahua, I was a bit nervous, but she walked me through everything I would need and helped me get set up for my little one. He is about 5 months old now and is the healthiest, most curious, wonderful loving addition to my life, and I simply cannot imagine life without him. Thank you Vikki! 🤍🐾

We had such an amazing experience getting our sweet puppy, Karamel! From the very beginning, Vikki was absolutely wonderful to work with. She responded to all of my messages so quickly and was always kind, patient, and incredibly helpful. You can truly tell she cares deeply about her dogs and the families they go to. Karamel is everything we could have hoped for and more. She has the sweetest, most gentle soul and such a calm, loving temperament. She is already so well-behaved, which really shows the care and dedication Vikki puts into raising her puppies. We are beyond grateful and couldn’t recommend Vikki enough to anyone looking for a responsible, compassionate breeder. Thank you for bringing Karamel into our lives!
