Meet the breeder

I'm Candice D., the breeder behind Lawless Portuguese Water Dogs located in Burien, WA. We have been involved with PWDs for 10 years - both showing and participating in various sports (water, agility & rally). We had our first litter in July and strive to ensure healthy, well-rounded pups that will be beloved family members. Health, temperament and loving homes are our priorities.

Q. & A. with Candice

  • Why did you start breeding?

I was fortunate enough to have a special girl that was shown and campaigned for a number of years that is a beautiful representative of the breed. In hopes of breed preservation and continuing her legacy I was lucky to be mentored by a number of other PWD breeders who assisted me in making the decision to breed her.
  • What makes your program special?

Our puppies are raised in our home and provided every opportunity prior to going to their forever homes. They are exposed to new and novel things on a daily basis to include toys, surface textures, people, other dogs, sounds, sights, car rides, etc. While we focus on health and temperaments our goal is to raise well rounded puppies that are ready to take on life with their loving new families.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Candice

Candice has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Candice partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“We do not match puppies on a first come first serve basis. Rather we accept applications and approve homes as applications come in as an approved applicant *if* there is a well matched puppy. We then await temperament and conformation evaluations to determine what each puppy needs, what type of home they are best suited for, etc. We then match up puppies and families - if there are several matched puppies in a litter an applicant may have a choice of the available puppies.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $3,800 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price includes deworming, first round of vaccinations, AKC microchip and 30 days of health insurance through Trupanion.”
