Q. & A. with Roseanna
Why did you start breeding?
While looking to add my first Spanish Mastiff to my LGD team, I was immidiately struck by how few breeders there were in the States and even fewer that bred for what the SM breed was actually meant for, as true, working livestock guardian. I've always been passionate about betterment of the breed with my goats and decided that I wanted make a positive difference towards preserving and improving this wonderful breed of dogs.
What makes your program special?
We breed Livestock Guardian Dogs first and foremost. Our dogs must be intelligent decision makers, fierce towards predators yet gentle and trustworthy with young children, poultry and the youngest farm animals. They are throughly socialized to many different experiences and they must pass all health testing, a DNA panel and hip evaluation through OFA.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
