Meet the breeder

I'm Amanda, the breeder behind Maplewood Vizslas located in Iowa. Our breeding program focuses on health, conformation, temperament and hunting abilities. We strive to improve the breed while preserving the qualities that define the Vizsla. Our litters are raised in our home in order to provide the highest level of care, and socialization.

Q. & A. with Amanda

  • Why did you start breeding?

We brought home our first Vizsla several years ago and fell in love with their sweet personalities, drive in the field, and sleek look. That spiraled into three Vizslas, who are active in the field and more recently, the show ring. We decided to start breeding to promote and preserve those qualities that we fell in love with!
  • What makes your program special?

We raise our pups in our living room with crazy amounts of love and care. Puppies are started on house training, crate training, and we begin clicker training basic commands. We spend 9 weeks getting to know each puppy’s personality so we can send them to perfect homes for them. Our pups may only be in our house for 9 weeks, but they are always family and would be welcomed back if ever needed.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
