Meet the breeder

I'm Michelle K., the breeder behind Mill Pond Farm Vizslas located in Constableville, NY. We selectively breed for the preservation and betterment of the Vizsla Breed, temperament, good physical representation of the Vizsla breed, handsome appearance, slightly taller stature, good health, natural bird hunting ability, agility, sure footed, confident, biddable, intelligence and solid, loving family companion. With that in mind, here are a few thoughts to share with you about Vizslas: ◦ The Vizsla is an exceptionally nice-looking breed ◦ The coat is short, soft, and they keep themselves very clean. ◦ The Vizsla is a companion dog, loving, loyal and affectionate. ◦ The breed is clean and relatively odorless compared to many other breeds. ◦ Vizslas require a “soft hand” in training and discipline. They are surprisingly sensitive. ◦ This is a dog that needs to be kept inside the home with the family. They will not prosper outside, alone in a kennel. ◦ They can be a little needy of attention and petting, often demanding of your time when you arrive home. They sincerely believe that everyone that comes to your home has come to see them, not you. ◦ The Vizsla is highly intelligent and witty and often comical and expressive. ◦ The Vizsla is affectionate, desires to be with you, and desires to please you. ◦ The breed can be destructive and naughty if left alone for long periods of time and not exercised and stimulated. ◦ The V will potentially terrorize the wildlife in your yard. ◦ The Vizsla makes a great bird dog. They point and retrieve well. They were bred for hunting. ◦ The Vizsla does ok in Cold temperatures, however they tend not to like cold and wet weather, preferring to lay in front of a warm fire or woodstove until the foul weather improves. ◦ They will sulk if you are harsh with them, making you feel guilty and thereby forcing you to provide them with profuse petting and loving attention to bring their spirits back up. ◦ This is a great breed for the active runners, (after attaining at least 10 months of age) hikers, joggers, outdoor enthusiasts., camping, beaches, agility and Fast Cat competitions, long daily walks, Therapy dog (Permission not granted or assumed to use this write-up or any part thereof. copyright Mill Pond Farm Vizslas).
