Meet the breeder

I'm Phyllis Z., the breeder behind Miraval PWDs located in Millbury, MA. I am an active owner competing with my dogs in conformation, agility, obedience scent work, and PWD water work (based on their work on boats in Portugal.) As an experienced trainer, I support my puppy owners for the life of their dogs. I am a 30-year member of PWDCA and founded 4myPWDs.

Q. & A. with Phyllis

  • Why did you start breeding?

When I got my first PWD, I hadn't even considered breeding. But it seemed like the logical next step as I got more involved in the dog community and had Champion Girl with the proven working ability. Along the way, great mentors taught me about Portuguese Water Dogs and how to choose pedigrees.
  • What makes your program special?

I have been breeding PWDs since 2002. Dogs I have bred have earned championships, agility championships, obedience, water, tracking, and nose work titles, but most importantly, they are wonderful companions. Pups are raised with Puppy Culture with a focus on health and temperament. I provide support and advice for the life of the dog—and even after!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and white, black, and brown. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Lifetime support begins b4 they go home for their life. Your deposit is to hold a puppy for you. It is refundable only if I don't have a puppy that will be a good match. I try to match your preferred sex, coat type & color, but I can't guarantee that.
