Meet the breeder

I'm Jessica F., the breeder behind Moonshine's Wirehaired Pointing Griffons located in Clear Spring, MD. My dogs are, first and foremost, bred for temperament and then structure to go out and do what they were bred to do, (hunting). WPG are a closer hunting breed who love to be with the family; however, they do shed, and they are not completely hypoallergenic. The breed needs lots of exercise and a job for their mind. They also need to have a lot of room to run around. I am a member of the AWPGA and I have personally worked with this breed for 22 yrs. I have many champions and grand champions from the show ring; I do both field and hunt tests. I believe in finding the right dog for the right person. When you buy one of my dogs, you become part of my family!

Q. & A. with Jessica

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got into breeding as it was a family hobby at the time. I want to preserve the good qualities of the breed, and I want them to do what they were bred to do (hunt), which started with structure. I'm so excited to have the privilege to share these incredible dogs with the dog community. All buyers will be required to complete application, and meet me and the breed before being put on a list.
  • What makes your program special?

I put structure and temperament first and then their hunting abilities, such as prey drive. I personally study the gene pool structures before picking the male and female parent dogs; this takes many years of practice to make sure you have done the process correctly. I believe in quality over quantity. I love what I do, and I can't wait to connect with you!
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
