Meet the breeder

I'm Mountain Ash F., the breeder behind Mountain Ash Farms located in Portland, OR. Upon meeting our first Shetland Sheepdog we knew that we were in love. We have let that love grow and flourish and led us to the desire to be able to provide these wonderful dogs to other people and other families. And so, we got our first girls for breeding. Our goal is to provide healthy and well-rounded Sheltie puppies. We are always thrilled to be able to provide a wonderful show dog, or agility dog, though our first goal is to provide our families with wonderful pets.

Q. & A. with Mountain Ash

  • Why did you start breeding?

I developed a passion for dogs when my Kindergarten teacher had a Russell Terrier that used to come to school everyday. Russells have been a staple around farms and horse events for years. I got into breeding Shelties when I met my first sheltie in 2013 and fell instantly in love. Once I discovered the breed I began to research and learn everything that I could about them.
  • What makes your program special?

All of my dogs live in my house as part of my family. I have found that my puppies are happier and healthier when raised fully integrated into my home and family.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Russell Terrier puppies include white and black and white and tan. Shetland Sheepdog puppies include white and sable, sable merle and white, blue merle white and tan, black white and tan, and sable and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
